Our Story

Peace & Quiet Nature HotelPeace & Quiet Nature Hotel in Jokkmokk was founded by mountain guide Björn Hedlund Länta. He grew up in the Scandinavian wilderness and spent more than 3 000 nights outdoors before he turned 20, turning the forests and mountains into his playground. His passion for the mountains led him to become a professional mountain guide, a role he has held for over a decade. Through guiding thousands of people, Björn realised how powerful the sub‑arctic environment can be as a teacher and a refuge; he speaks of conveying “the silent knowledge of nature” that his mentors and his own experience have taught him. This philosophy underpins Peace & Quiet: the hotel is accessible only by reindeer sled, snowmobile, boat or on foot, encouraging guests to leave daily life behind and embrace a balanced, back‑to‑nature lifestyle. In Jokkmokk, guests stay in floating glass rooms and goahte‑inspired huts, enjoy cryotherapy, sauna tents and yoga on the ice, and immerse themselves in Sámi culture and the Lule River’s pristine wilderness. Björn personally designs experiences that combine eco‑luxury with authentic encounters, ensuring each visitor reconnects with themselves and the land.Bringing the magic closerTo share this “peace and quiet” with more travellers, Björn is expanding the concept to Kiruna/Jukkasjärvi. By building glass igloos near Swedish Lapland’s airports, he makes the experience accessible to guests who may not have time for a remote expedition. These igloos mirror the Jokkmokk philosophy: sustainable materials, off‑grid solutions and panoramic glass walls that frame the northern lights. The design is influenced by Sámi goahte structures and the minimal impact ethic of the original hotel. Local breakfasts, private saunas and partnerships with reindeer herders weave regional culture into every stay. This new location allows guests to arrive by plane, enjoy the aurora from their bed and still feel the deep tranquillity and hospitality that define Peace & Quiet – demonstrating Björn’s vision to blend accessibility with authenticity while maintaining a profound respect for nature and Sámi traditions.A more intimate alternativePart of the motivation for the new igloo project is to offer a more intimate and tranquil lodging experience than the renowned Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi. While the Icehotel attracts visitors from around the world and can be a bustling hub, Björn wanted to create a quiet retreat where guests can enjoy the aurora in privacy, surrounded only by nature and the warmth of their own glass igloo. By situating the igloos close to the airport yet away from the crowds, he ensures that travellers can still access Swedish Lapland with ease while indulging in the serenity and personal touch that define the Peace & Quiet brand. This new location allows guests to arrive by plane, enjoy the aurora from their bed and still feel the deep tranquillity and hospitality that define Peace & Quiet – demonstrating Björn’s vision to blend accessibility with authenticity while maintaining a profound respect for nature and Sámi traditions.
